Subject: final CIESDE'05 Call For Papers From: ciesde05@maebashi-it.org =================================================================== Call For Papers CIESDE'05 (http://www.maebashi-it.org/~ciesde05/) International Workshop on Computer Intelligence for Exabyte Scale Data Explosion SAINT'05, Trento Italy, January 31 - February 4, 2005 In conjunction with the 2005 International Symposium on Applications and the Internet (Main URL of SAINT 2005: http://www.saint2005.org/) ==================================================================== Workshop Objectives: -------------------- The rapid deployment of the internet has been realized the huge scale data transfer and accumulation among the world. This huge scale data is going to realize technical and social break through in many fields. For example, B-factory and Large Hadron Corridor in physical science are attacking terabyte scale data to seek after the truth of the universe. Their large scale instruments are expected to gather petabyte class data in near future. Huge scale computing resources, i.e. large scale cluster computers with over 10,000 computing nodes, and various applications are required to make the best use of the data. Similar projects are going in many fields. ALMA in astronomy, Genome database in life science, sensor network of seismological observatory are typical example from science field. The handling of real time POS data are increasing its importance in the e-commerce field. These fields all indicate the importance of new generation computing environment which can handle exabyte scale data. In other words, computer systems are expected to be intelligent and strong enough to cope with the exabyte scale data as the infrastructure of the society with exabyte scale data. In this context, we believe that the next generation computer science is facing a new paradigm: Computer Intelligence for Exabyte Scale Data Explosion. In collaboration with the Japanese Ministry of Education "A05 Group of Special Priority Area Research Group for Informatics" and "Special Priority Area Research Group for Active Mining", this workshop aims to exchange and disseminate the latest research results as well as experiences from computer intelligence for exabyte scale data explosion. The scope of the workshop includes but not limited to the following topics: - High performance computing, networking such as Grid - Large scale database for Exabyte scale data - Data mining and Active mining which can analyze Exabyte scale data - Applications with huge data including life science, e-commerce and etc. - Computer interface and visualization for huge data - Semantic Web and Web intelligence We hope that the workshop will foster further research results in the still somewhat new and exciting area. Papers Publication and Author's Kit: ------------------------------------ Workshop papers should be within 4 pages, no extra page is allowed. The Proceedings of the Symposium and the Workshops will be published, in separated volumes, by the IEEE Computer Society Press. Please follow the instruction on the Web page "Author's Kit etc" (http://www.saint2005.org/author/index.html) for preparing your Workshop papers. Paper Submission: ----------------- A total of around 15 papers will been selected for presentation spanning all of the above topics. Papers should be submitted by on-line submissions (http://www.maebashi-it.org/~ciesde05/workshop/html/submit.html), no later than October 7. After a review process by Organizers and Program Committee of the Workshop, authors of accepted papers will be requested to send the final manuscript to the IEEE-CS Press no later than November 1. So, authors are kindly requested to submit papers as early as possible to facilitate a review process. Registration: ------------- It is the IEEE policy that accepted papers can be published only when IEEE recognized that at least one author has registered for presentation. So, authors will be requested to register along with the final manuscript. SAINT Conference Registration fees include a copy of the Conference proceedings, a copy of the Workshop proceedings, admission to the Conference/Workshop sessions. Note: ----- The date and length of the Workshop will be decided by SAINT2005 Organizing Committee taking account of the submitted number of papers, and be notified on the SAINT2005 website. Please also not that, according to the SAINT2005 http://www.saint2005.org/) Organizing Committee, the Workshop is subject to cancel when submitted papers will not be enough.
